Technology
in Use: Does your web site talk to your internal CRM system? Merging
database systems that were not necessarily meant to speak to each
other becomes a logistic nightmare if not carefully considered and the
proper backups put in place. The first step to a successful conversion
is choosing a common platform. Home Savers USA, a national provider of
mortgage assistance programs had a national network of 800 numbers
dump leads into an existing system that their telemarketing banks had
used with skill for years. When their web site was launched they
needed to capture web leads, transition them into the database and be
able to track those leads all without human interaction with the data.
The existing system also needed to be able to track web site
referrals. eBasedEvolution built the bridge between the two systems,
updated their current systems fields and then tested all the touch
points to ensure accuracy and stability.
Tech Tip: Ever wonder why
you see the same company listed several times on a search engine? What
they have often done is submit multiple pages of their site. When you
think about what the search engines are looking for; unique, current,
relevant content, it makes sense to submit different pages of your
site when they deal with completely different content. Since most
search spiders will only catalogue a few pages away from the submitted
url (domain name) multiple submissions become necessary on larger
sites with lots of different topics. Many companies utilize
gateway/doorway/attraction pages (example: http://www.ebasedevolution.com/ecommercewebsitedevelopmentLha.htm)
to accomplish this. That method can be very successful with some of
the search engines when done correctly. When abused, at best it will
be ignored and at the worst it can get your url banned for spamming.
Before you submit to any engine look at the results for your keyword
search and review the submission guidelines on the search engine site.
It is important to know that different engines have different ranking
criteria as well as submission guidelines so do your homework or
contact a professional search engine optimization company.
