Free Search Engine Guide - Ideas

Good Day,

As always, thank you for taking a moment of your valuable time to review our newsletter. We hope that this issue offers some valuable information for you. We always welcome your feedback.

Technology in Use: I recently walked by a CFO's office and was amazed to see his TV was tuned to CNN's market watch, his computer ran a constant financial ticker, his browser was logged into a financial research site and his Palm set to send him alerts on certain stocks. How does he keep all that straight? He explained that it took a lot of practice. I asked how he would like to receive categorized news from 2,500 different news sources filtered for his preference so that he could immediately access real-time information, make quicker and smarter business decisions, and take advantage of revenue opportunities? His eyes lit up. How, he asked? I replied, you do know that is what we do?

Like a lot of us, this CFO was bogged down with the daily grind and therefore unaware of the ability for technology to drive information directly to the end user. Why surf the net when it can be brought to you?

If your business relies on access to information you can benefit from this type of program. For articles and other examples of this technology in use send an email to automaticinfo@ebasedevolution.com.

Tech Tip: Recent estimates place the number of crawlable (active) web site servers at about 30 million world-wide. One search engine, Fast (Powering Lycos and All The Web) estimates that 2/3 of those servers, about 20 million, have been blacklisted by them for spamming. This means that even if you yourself have not spammed anyone, your web site IP address might be banned because of a bad neighbor. This is one of the downfalls of having a shared server. If you are having trouble achieving rankings on a search engine, this could be the reason. To determine if you are on a shared server or for information on getting off the blacklist send an email to server_issues@ebasedevolution.com.

Announcement: It has been a busy few months for those of us in the technology industry. Already the Charlotte Chamber has hosted the Charlotte Business Experience and Computer & Technology Showcase and NCEITA held its annual IT event Forum 2002. Still to come are the MEC's FutureTech Conference, the CED's Venture 2002 Conference and the return of ITEC.
